#IWSG (August): A writer on the road

This August IWSG post comes just a little soon for me, as I'm not quite back home yet. But I'll do my best to make it something, and I'll visit anyone I can in the next week.

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time - and return comments. This group is all about connecting!

Be sure to visit and thank the Ninja Captain Alex and our wonderful co-hosts Tara Tyler, Lisa Buie Collard,Loni Townsend, and Lee Lowery!

Every month there is an optional question to spark discussion. This month’s question is:

When you set out to write a story, do you try to be more original or do you try to give readers what they want?

First, the news from me!

I’m almost home! Just a couple more days and I’ll be back home, realizing once again that I left before I’d really finished moving in, so will have plenty of distractions. I’ll also have about 6000 photos to sort and edit.

What all this means for my writing is uncertain. I’ve been puttering a bit at edits on the novel, and I’m still not satisfied with the ending or with my original thoughts on whodunnit. None of my other solutions have been working out well, either, so I am going to need to put in some serious thinking and drafting to find my way to the answer. How I fit all this in with finishing settling into my new home and editing those photos, I don’t know.

In other news… I’ve been chasing Stinklet all over the Alps, but not keeping up here with sharing his adventures! In case you are wondering, Stinklet is representing for Skunk Corners and the Ninja Librarian!

Here are a few of the places I’ve found him. After finishing the Tour de Mt. Blanc, he took a few days off in Saas Fee, Switzerland, and then a bunch of thunderstorms sent him scurrying for cover. But he eventually came back out.

Atop the Faulhorn.

I have lots of thoughts on the IWSG question, but it’s past my bedtime, so I’ll save that discussion for the comments, here and on your blogs!

  1. Sounds like you're having a great trip. Hope you get all moved in and figure out the end to your story when you get home.

  2. What a wonderful trip. And it's always more fun when traveling with a little friend. I'm going to live vicariously through these images this afternoon. Sigh . . .
