I got distracted this week and didn't finish editing the photos I meant to share today, so I'm giving you a story to read instead.  This is a story from the Ninja Librarian's world, written in 2013 for a flash fiction challenge requiring me to include a list of words. I used it as an excuse to give a voice to one of the secondary characters in  The Ninja Librarian , I think as I was working on or just as I published the second book in the series,  Return to Skunk Corners . Without further ado, here's Tess, of Two-Timin' Tess's Tavern with her take on the arrival of the Ninja Librarian in Skunk Corners.   Tess's Tale   Everyone knows Big Al, the chief storyteller of Skunk Corners. And Tom himself has had a thing or two to say from time to time, but in my opinion the time has come for some of us common folk of Skunk Corners to have a turn. N is for...the Ninja Librarian, of course! In a nutshell: A calm, quiet, moderate man who walked into Skunk Corners library one day and became a fixture.   And of course, he's a ninja. Biggest secret: His past. Favorite line: “Does that completely answer your question?” The series is The Ninja Librarian, with three books, suitable for ages 8 or 9 and up (way up--adults love the books too!). And while the narrator is Big Al , there is no question that the star is the Ninja Librarian himself. A mysterious character, he has only a single name--Tom--and has never told Al much of anything about himself, though bits leak through--everyone knows he grew up in the city--some city--and doesn't know country stuff very well. He's quick study, though, and can think of things no one else would dream of. I'm just posting a brief profile, sometimes a quote, and the book cover with links. In a nutshell: Big Al is a tomboy who escaped from misery after her Pa died, and ended up as school teacher in Skunk Corners. She's training under the Ninja Librarian, and between the two of them they keep the town in line. Biggest Secret: Al is scared stiff of Mort Black. Favorite Quote: "I tell you, pockets are the number one reason I dress like a fellow."
