Writer's Wednesday: Progress?

Why, yes, I do believe I am making progress! 

The cover art is progressing nicely--I'm hoping to be able to reveal that soon. Meanwhile, I have (with much help from my friends--special thanks to fellow writers Ronel Janse van Vuuren and Lisa Frieden) finalized the back-cover blurb! I'll share that below.

If you don't like seeing how sausage is made, skip the next paragraph!

 

In other news, I've drafted a whole new ending for Logged Off, which I think works better and makes more sense than the original version. Of course, I still have to beat it into shape, then go back and make sure everything in earlier parts of the book fits the new ending. 

 

In spite of this, and my travel plans for August, September, and October, I am on track to release the book in November. I've also polished up a few short stories to send out in search of a home.

In other writerly news, I've been going to lots of street fairs and hawking my books with the Author Event Network. It's been a lot of fun! This weekend I'm heading "home" to Vashon Island for the Strawberry Festival. I grew up on Vashon, and that experience definitely helped shape Pismawallops Island, the home of JJ MacGregor and my PTA Mysteries. When I was a kid, our church sold hand-cranked ice cream with strawberries at the festival. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't let us do that now.

    I love the sound of a strawberry festival! Congrats on getting your cover ready. And for creating a new ending for Logged Off. I'm getting ready to shred a WIP and come up with a better ending myself. You've given me some hope of getting that done.

    The strawberry festival was always a blast! I wonder how many of the current participants know that it exists because strawberry farming was an economic mainstay on the island? I kind of doubt that there are even any commercial strawberry farms left. Wave to anyone who looks familiar while you are there - remember, they look older than they did when we lived there!

      I'm 99.9% certain the strawberry farms are gone. And everyone looks familiar to me, or else no one does. People are going to have to address me!
