I'm making myself a little crazy trying to finish drafting  Painted Over , but finally made myself take time to put together a blog post for the weekend.  For those who want to read   about my 2-week  campervan tour of Iceland's Ring Road in September 2025  in order, here are the links to post #1     post #2     post #3     post #4     post # 5   post #6   and post #7 . Day 10 (Sept. 20): Skaftafell and other scenic highlights  I had the pleasure of waking up in possibly my most scenic campsite of the trip, and seeing that the weather was good. Breezy, yes, but sunny and clear. I was up at first light, and ready to roll by 7:45. Sunrise over the campervans. A couple of Icelandic sheep in the overgrown parts of the campground were up to watch me go. Here are the links to post #1     post #2     post #3     post #4    and  post # 5  of the 2-week trip, for those who want to read it in order.   This was a 2-week campervan tour of Iceland's Ring Road, in September 2025. I was going to post this sooner, but if I had there wouldn't have been any weekend post this weekend. I have to get home from my Thanksgiving travels and get some more photos edited!     Day 7 (Sept. 17): Stuthlagil Gorge, Hegnifoss, and more I started my day with a drive that took me up and over a high point of some 1400' on the way back to the Ring Road (which I left some 2 days earlier to head into the far north). That was enough to bring some flakes of snow, instead of rain, on my windshield. I pulled over to photograph the snow, with only the faintest foreboding that this might be a sign of winter (but continued gratitude that the van had a good heater, both when in motion and when parked)....

I'm working my way as fast as I can through editing the photos, but got behind being away from home for a week over Thanksgiving! The last post left off partway through...  Day 8 (Sept. 18): After leaving  Seythisfjorthur, I spent the rest of the day driving through East Iceland, pulling off the road wherever the spirit moved me to take a short walk or just a photo or two. I drove through some of the villages, even walked around one or two briefly, but didn't stay long anywhere.
